Pilates

Pilates is a mind body conditioning exercise programme that targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall central core stability and posture. Exercises also aim to improve spine mobility, body and postural awareness.

Modified pilates exercises have been designed for the clinical population who need to improve core strength to help to support back and neck problems. Techniques are based on scientific evidence, and exercises incorporate recent research on lumbar instability and muscle imbalance.

Using pilates to strengthen the core muscles in conjunction with chiropractic treatment is an ideal combination. Being taught Pilates by your chiropractor ensures a safe way of working, as she will understand your condition and can modify exercises to suit you.

Pilates is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. You can attend the clinic for pilates even if you are not a patient, however you will need to have an assessment first to establish your requirements.

Debbie has trained with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute to qualify as a pilates instructor. Pilates is taught on a one to one basis and in small classes of 6 people.
